Driven Women Magazine’s official charity partner is Drive Against Depression (DAD). The story of how DAD was formed is told beautifully by their co-founder Adam in Issue Two of Driven Women Magazine.
Getting out for a drive and catching up with mates is a simple and important way of supporting mental health. It’s where the concept for DAD started and it’s what they always come back to.
At each of their events DAD creates a judgement free, non-confrontational opportunity for participants to start their conversation about what’s going on for them in a group of supportive, like minded people.
The latest event is being held on Sunday 19th August on the Bellarine Peninsula near Melbourne in Victoria. DAD have become renowned for their beautiful drives on some of the most engaging roads, and this event proudly follows the same trend.
Taking the road less travelled the event will depart from the most picturesque You Yangs Mountain Range, criss cross the beautiful Moorabool Valley, travel via Freshwater Creek, Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and Point Lonsdale to the lunch destination at Queenscliff.
There is no set entry fee and participants are kindly requested to make a donation per person to join in. A detailed drive route and navigation notes will be emailed to each participant ahead of the drive and just for fun Drive Route Master David Henry is creating a series of trivia and treasure hunt questions to spark (friendly) competitive spirit amongst participants and to have a laugh over lunch at the Queenscliff Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club.
You can register for the event here. DAD encourages you to bring a friend along to enjoy the day together and have someone to chat with through the drive. They might even be able to help with the trivia questions!
