In March, TeamViewer announced its partnership with F1 Academy seeking to inspire and drive greater gender equality, both on and off the track. Both share the vision to address gender representation, an issue faced by both the technology world and motorsports. TeamViewer’s partnership with the F1 Academy, as its first technology partner, was built off the back of their successful SheSportTech program in 2024.
As part of the partnership, TeamViewer had a branded wildcard car at the F1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix driven by Esmee Kosterman. The 20-year-old Dutch driver represented TeamViewer for her debut weekend at her home race, where she finished P7 in Race 2 to secure six points, becoming the first Wild Card entry to score points this season. This opportunity addressed one of the issues identified in its recent research on women in Sport Tech.
“From our research it is clear there is a lack of visible female role models to inspire and encourage other women to pursue a career in technology. To be it you need to be able to see it, so we are launching our ‘Visibility Drives Change’ campaign where we will incorporate the faces of female role models onto our F1 ACADEMY branded car livery at the F1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix,” said Faith Wheller, Vice President, Global marketing at TeamViewer.

As Vice President for Global Marketing at TeamViewer, Faith Wheller oversees brand, integrated marketing, go to market strategy and their sports partnerships. She leads teams across Customer Marketing, Product Marketing, Content, Creative and Campaigns, to become more customer-focused and to help inform how our business grows. Ms Wheller also works closely with F1 Academy, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Manchester United to ensure the partnerships deliver on TeamViewer’s goals.
“At TeamViewer, we firmly believe that if you can’t see it, you can’t be it, so the visibility of role models has been a key focus for us. In 2024 we launched our SheSportTech initiative to give women the opportunity to grow through training to support a move into a role in Sport tech. The overwhelming number of applications showed the need for such initiatives and highlighted our alignment with F1 Academy’s values to drive more women into the sport, both on and off the track,” Ms Wheller shared with Driven Women Magazine.
This year TeamViewer undertook research with Loughborough University which highlighted a powerful link between gender inclusivity and innovation. They found the support and inclusion of female talent has a direct and measurable impact on business growth and a positive culture. To make a change for the next generation of tech leaders, there is a need to start embedding diversity, representation and inclusive into daily systems. At TeamViewer, they strive to create authentic opportunities and initiatives that keep, at the forefront of their industry, developing innovative solutions that change how people work.
“While focused on women in tech roles in the sports industry, we did uncover data that can be applied more broadly. Nine out of 10 participants surveyed believed that gender inclusivity leads to greater innovation, and workplace solutions help bridge the gap between geographically diverse teams and increase knowledge sharing, which in turn generates more ideas and can introduce different working practices. We also found that flexibility in the workplace was key, as women with caring responsibilities said remote working, visible family leave policies, and a supportive culture would help encourage gender inclusivity,” said Ms Wheller on the findings of the recent study with Loughborough University.
By emphasising the importance of visibility of female leaders TeamViewer is driving cross-industry innovation and increased diversity is just one of the ways to improve innovation and culture. The research found that implementing role model programmes and other policies and activities that support gender inclusivity, are changes that can be adopted in all industries to better support their female and gender-diverse employees. And of course, where possible, having a reliable and secure remote working system is the first step in enabling flexibility in your workforce, which can increase opportunities for all to thrive on their terms.
“Our Visibility Drives Change initiative is about inspiring the next generation of women to become involved in motorsports, both on and off the track. By putting women front and centre, literally with their photo featured on the F1 Academy Wildcard Car at the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix, we wanted to encourage women and girls to see themselves as belonging in every field, wherever they want to be,” concluded Ms Wheller.
This is just the beginning for TeamViewer as they continue their journey to drive visibility of sports technology. You can read the full ‘Women in Sport Tech: Lessons from Sport on Unlocking Talent and Driving Innovation’ here.
