Kim Nguyen steps up at MG

In March this year, MG Motor Australia announced the strengthening of some their key positions including the appointment of Kim Nguyen as the new Head of Sales for MG Motor Australia effective from December 2022.

Ms. Nguyen’s journey in the automotive industry began in 2009, and since that time, she has successfully advanced her career to higher roles such as General Manager and HR Manager. Ms. Nguyen previously worked at Sydney City MG as the Dealer Principal, so her experience in building dealerships along with excellent industry knowledge of the market, mean she has already added a new level of expertise to MG Motor Australia.

With her new position at MG Motor Australia, Ms. Nguyen will oversee the strategic direction and operations of the company alongside the CEO, Peter Ciao. She’ll also be driving initiatives to increase sales and market share, introduce new products, as well as strengthening partnerships through a dedication to applying the customer’ and dealer’ first in all her interactions with her team. Ms. Nguyen recently took some time out of her busy schedule to tell Driven Women Magazine a bit more about her career progression to this point.

It’s not your typical career story either with Ms. Nguyen transitioning from HR to Sales and for Ms. Nguyen the quest for better results ultimately lies in leading with mutual respectful, inclusivity, and establishing a space that brings together two of the biggest elements: people and commerce.

 “Getting great people to join your team is just the starting point. If you’re going to achieve excellent results, then you must make sure your staff is engaged and productive. This is what really excites me and is at the core of our success.

“In particular, it has been a privilege to see our culture of transformation first hand, as talented colleagues moved from team to team, discipline to discipline – showing that no matter where you are in your career, you can learn a new role, if you can bring learning agility, the openness to new challenges, and the allies to support you along the way. At MG we say our top priority is our team that includes dealer network and our customers,” Ms. Nguyen told Driven Women Magazine.

Through the backing of a lot people around Ms. Nguyen, who’ve personally and professionally supported her along the way and with their mentorship, she has managed what could have been a difficult move more straightforwardly. What looks like a big leap from the outside, is a series of smaller steps accumulating on the inside. This has led Ms. Nguyen from human resources and corporate into the commercial side of the business as a Dealer Principal with Sydney City MG, now, to National Sales Director for the network of almost 100 dealers Australia wide.

A positive attitude goes a long way according to Ms. Nguyen and a positive approach to the problem, a positive approach to business partners, a positive approach to the dealer network and a positive approach to customers and staff are keys to finding solutions that work. For Ms. Nguyen it’s how we respond to challenges, that will ultimately make or break us.

These are some of the many reasons why Ms. Nguyen is passionate about the mission MG has in focusing on community, dealers and customers. She loves being involved in all aspects of business at MG including working with our partners at South Sydney Rabbitohs and Port Adelaide Football Club.

For Ms. Nguyen, every model in the MG range has a purpose and she loves each and every one for their features, functions and capabilities. MG Motor Australia has now moved its entire electric vehicle (EV) range to nationwide drive away pricing, so the cost of getting behind the wheel of an EV is set to go down for all Australians. In addition, their Precise Price Servicing applies to all cars in their range but with EV, is another step towards ensuring our customers have complete peace of mind when they join the MG family. As an example, the first service for a 64kWh MG4 comes at either 40,000km or 24 months and is $296 (as at 20/3/24). Below are the current prices of the EVs in the MG range:
