Beating 650 of her peers, Christine Dicker of Motorama Kia Moorooka has been awarded the top service advisor gong in Kia’s National Skills Cup and will represent Australia at the Kia International Skills Cup in Seoul, South Korea in June 2023.
The event, which is run every two years in Korea as an international competition, sees service advisors from different countries compete to be recognised as the most capable in the world.
The Kia National Skills Cup is a significant event for Kia Australia, as it highlights the brand’s commitment to providing exceptional customer service in the country. The competition also serves as a platform to promote best practices in the automotive industry.
Each country is required to screen their own nation and identify its national champion. From December 2022 to January 2023, up to 650 service advisors competed in a series of challenges, ultimately being narrowed down to six finalists. All candidates participated in a Knowledge Test, a theory test assessing brand knowledge and history, procedures, general customer experience, and knowledge of compulsory IT programs.
The top 25 scoring advisors were then subject to a Mystery Shop conducted by a CX specialist, which tested the advisors’ real-life skills in customer handling, adherence to Kia processes, and overall experience. Points accumulated during the Mystery Shop were combined with CX results from the previous 12 months to establish 6 finalists to partake in the final challenge.
Held at the Kia Australia head office, the final challenge consisted of 6 controlled tasks timed at 30 minutes each. These included role play scenarios around customer arrival, vehicle handover and system assistance, and assessment tasks around vehicle quality control, Kia systems and skills, and the Kia 10-step service process.
The six finalists were:
Christine Dicker – Motorama Kia Moorooka (QLD)
Madellyn Hayman – Maughan Thiems Kia (SA)
Bailey Flannagan – Lismore Kia – (QLD)
Scott Turner – Werribee Kia – (VIC)
Benjamin Avery – Adelaide City Kia – (SA)
Isaac Dowling – Brian Hilton Kia Wyoming (NSW)
After an impressive performance, Christine Dicker of Motorama Kia Moorooka emerged as the winner, and will travel to Korea in mid-June to represent Australia on the world stage.
“We are pleased to announce Christine Dicker as the winner of the Kia Australia National Skills Cup and congratulate all the service advisors who participated in the competition,” said Damien Meredith, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Australia.
