Red CentreNATS is gearing up to host the wedding of the century, with the iconic car festival in Alice Springs giving two lucky car lovers the chance to say ‘I do’ in the heart of Australia later this year.
The ultimate festival of wheels returns to the Red Centre from 3-5 September 2021, and one lucky couple will win a $15,000 wedding against the breathtaking backdrop of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Couples who have already tied the knot can also enter, to renew their vows at the iconic event.
Tim Watsford, CEO of Northern Territory Major Events, who is the event organiser, supported by Summernats, said the wedding is a highlight of another packed program.
“Plenty of couples have met at Red CentreNATS and gone on to start a family, and we’ve even witnessed marriage proposals, but this is the first time we will actually hold a wedding as part of the event,” he said.
“It will be exciting to see our winners tie the knot. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to exchange vows in a location as stunning as the Red Centre, so I encourage couples from all over Australia to throw their hat in the ring for the chance to win. The lucky bride and groom will even get to lead the famous Street Parade!”

“Spending all that time and money on car projects normally has the opposite effect. The wedding of the century is going to be a lot of fun!”
This year’s event will also include an incredible program featuring drag racing, burnouts, grass driving, 4WDing, motorkhana, show ‘n’ shine, street cruising and more across three venues – Blatherskite Park, Alice Springs Inland Dragway and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment. The wedding ceremony will take place at Blatherskite Park and the reception at Lasseters.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants must record a video no longer than one minute in length explaining why they want to get hitched or renew their vows at Red CentreNATS. They must have purchased spectator tickets to Red CentreNATS or be an entrant in the festival.
The wedding package includes a licensed celebrant, wedding ceremony and reception for up to 20 guests, food and drinks package, accommodation at Crown Plaza Lasseters, a photoshoot with the couple’s car, videography, hair and make-up, flowers, a cake and more.
The competition closes on 8 July 2021. The winners will get married on Saturday, 4 September 2021.
