For some people cars are just a form of transportation, but for others like Colleen Ellison they are a vehicle for change. Colleen is a Christian who knows all things are possible with a focus on your God guided steps. She is married to her soul mate Bill Ellison and is a mother to five children, and thrives when she is able to make things better.
Colleen was drawn to cars early in her career when she sold newspaper adverting to Houston dealerships. But her introduction to supercars came through her husband, Bill who brought home his Ferrari dream car and a short time later was in a shocking accident. But this accident led Colleen and Bill to adopting their three youngest children from Foster care through the Arrow Ministries Foster to Adopt program.
When the time came for a Ferrari replacement, Colleen suggested they take a look at Lamborghini. The story and passion behind the Lamborghini brand made an instant connection with them.
“Ferruccio was a Taurus and I am a Taurus. I solidified my obsession when we flew to Italy, toured the factory and my Huracán in Viola Parsifae was unveiled. The factory was immaculate, and the attention to detail was present and they were incredibly welcoming to my family. They even embossed a piece of leather for each of my children to have as a souvenir. I never thought I would shed tears over a supercar, but in that moment it wasn’t just a supercar it was a work of art produced by perfectionist like me. It was an unforgettable moment,” Colleen recalls.
Colleen has three children under the age of 16 and her daily driver is an Infiniti QX80. Her primary supercar is the Lamborghini Huracán in Viola Parsifae, because purple is Colleen’s favourite colour. The Lamborghini Huracán STO pictured above is on order and she plans to travel to Italy for the unveiling. Colleen also has a Rolls Royce Wraith. Which is her favourite? It depends on Colleen’s mood and what she needs to accomplish that day.
After being members of the Lamborghini Club Houston for several years, Bill and Colleen were appointed President and Vice President respectively in 2020, just before the COVID-19 outbreak took hold. The Club currently has 460 members and 27 of these are women, many who are drivers and are known in the Houston area as powerful women. Besides a love of Lamborghinis, being self-made is something many of the members have in common.
“The Club is made up people who have persevered to achieve their dream car and are not shy about giving back and inspiring others. Bill and I can call on them anytime to give back and they show up. The people and shared passion is what I like most about being part of the Club and I get goose bumps every time I hear those engines coming down the road!” Colleen told us.
Members get together for a monthly car meet to share their passion with the public and also undertake organised drives. The Club will be taking over the Lamborghini Festival in Houston where Lamborghini owners from all over the USA and Mexico will come to Houston for this spectacular three-day event.
Recently Colleen was honoured to be chosen by THE luxury brand, Rolls-Royce, for their Phantom Phenom campaign. Rolls-Royce selected nine women from across the USA who had a commanding presence and built their own success.
“They chose women who exhibited elegance, presence, and compassion and shared a passion for philanthropic efforts that made us stand out in the community. Rolls-Royce gave me a platform to highlight the Arrow Ministries Foster to Adopt program. This organisation has a special place in my heart because they helped us expand our family with three amazing children,” said Colleen.
Colleen is the Vice President of ASGi Homes, a Homebuilding company and she loves inspiring the next generation of powerful women. She wants anyone who is reading this to know they are worth more than gold.
“When you achieve your level of success, always remember, to whom much is given, much is expected. I tell my children when they leave the house each day to ‘make someone smile’. We can all be the hope someone needed in that moment by just stopping to acknowledge their existence. Hurt people will hurt people so instead of standing in judgement seek to understand,” Colleen concludes.
Lamborghinis are all about emotions; the noise and the feeling you get when driving one is very special. It is no surprise then that they are the supercar of choice for people like Colleen Ellison, who have a passion for life and making the world a better place.
