Vantage Roadster breaks cover in Australia

by Petrol Mum

The first local example of the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster has debuted in Aston Martin Sydney this week, as it commences its Australia tour. This follows the global announcement of Vantage Roadster in February of this year.

Joining the Vantage Coupe, which was launched in 2018, this convertible model amplifies the emotional appeal of a model renowned for delivering a compelling blend of potent performance, outstanding dynamics and everyday usability.

Patrik Nilsson, President, Aston Martin Asia Pacific said: “We are thrilled to officially unveil our new Vantage Roadster in Australia. This special variant takes all the magnificent features our customers enjoy from Vantage to the next level, truly bringing the senses to life.

“The model is designed for those seeking the precise, agile and expressive handling dynamics of Vantage, as well as the added thrill of driving a great-sounding sports car with the roof down. We have continued to see significant interest from Australian customers for our open-top Aston Martin models, and we are therefore anticipating strong local appeal for this new addition to the range” continued Mr Nilsson.

Testament to the uncompromising design, engineering and execution of this scintillating open-top two-seater, Vantage Roadster shares the Vantage Coupe’s absolute commitment to driving thrills. Powered by Aston Martin’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo 510PS/685Nm V8 engine and mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, Vantage Roadster accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 3.7sec and is capable of 306km/h with the roof raised.

While Vantage Roadster mirrors the Coupe’s exceptional tactility, pace and cornering performance, the design of the body is very much its own. The tautly tailored fabric hood features a compact powered Z-fold mechanism that ensures rapid operation (lowered in 6.7 or raised in 6.8 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h). In fact, the roof of Vantage Roadster has the fastest full operating cycle of any automatic automotive convertible system.

It is a historic year for Vantage, as 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the iconic nameplate. The Vantage moniker proudly sits on more than a third of all the sports cars ever meticulously handcrafted by the luxury British brand. Spanning seven decades and covering some of the company’s most revered sports cars, the Vantage family forms a crucial part of the ever-evolving Aston Martin story.

The Vantage family expands with the introduction of Vantage Roadster alongside the Coupe manual and Coupe automatic variants. Vantage Roadster is priced from $AUD314,635 (plus on road costs) in Australia, with first local customer deliveries set to commence during Q1 2021.
