The Maserati GranTurismo Aspirato is a tribute to the naturally aspirated V8 engine

It’s not often an internal combustion engine gets a send-off – but then this is no ordinary engine. In fact, it’s one of the last naturally-aspirated V8 engines in the segment today.

Based on the F136 family of 90-degree V8 petrol engines, this state-of-the art 4.7-litre powerhouse has been developed and hand-built jointly by Maserati and Ferrari engineers – and the limited-edition GranTurismo Sport Edizione V8 Aspirato will be its final home.

Developed exclusively for the Australian and New Zealand markets from the last manufacturing run which produced the recent GranTurismo Zeda, just 23 Edizione V8 Aspirato models will be coming to Australia and New Zealand, undoubtedly granting each future classic status. GranTurismo is an Italian car concept pioneered by Maserati. Originally designed by Pininfarina, it has evolved into one of the most iconic GT cars since its launch in 2007.

The 4-seater coupé is considered the ultimate expression of Maserati’s passion, technology and craftsmanship and remains unique in the supercar segment thanks to its elegant design and luxurious interior. Maserati has produced more than 40,000 GranTurismo and GranCabrio models in the historic factory, Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena. The Edizione V8 Aspirato signs-off this iconic model with its elegant and aerodynamically efficient styling, refined interiors and state-of-the art infotainment system.

Five unique heritage paint colours will be available on the Edizione V8 Aspirato: Blu Corse, Blue Sera, Argento Auteuil, Verde Britannia and Celeste Chiaro (in addition to the existing Nero Carbonio and Rosso Italiano). These heritage colour schemes can be further personalised with the customer’s choice of brake caliper and alloy wheel combinations, making each Edizione V8 Aspirato truly unique.

The naturally-aspirated, 4.7-litre V8 engine hand-built by Ferrari in Maranello and capable of producing 460hp at 7,000rpm and 520Nm of peak torque at 4,750rpm. A six-speed ZF Automatic Gearbox is attached directly to the V8 powerhouse. The GranTurismo Sport accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 299km/h.

The Maserati Design Centre team in Turin approached the final GranTurismo restyling by treating the timeless design with utmost respect. The car’s ‘sharknose’ hexagonal grille adds a three-dimensional effect to its frontal view. Together with the new, lower air ducts, the grille helps improve the airflow distribution and reduce the aerodynamic drag from 0.33 to 0.32cd. The rear bumper has also been redesigned with an emphasis on the natural elegance of the iconic GT coupé.

The interior of the GranTurismo Edizione V8 Aspirato offers unparalleled comfort for four adults, thanks to the individual Poltrona Frau leather seats with integrated headrests. The iconic Italian coupé is also available with Alcantara and leather upholstery. Inside, a state-of-the-art infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions, while the central console accommodates a user-friendly, double rotary knob, made of forged aluminium.
