Last time we caught up with Australian racing driver Caitlin Wood she was heading to the United Kingdom looking to further her racing career. The great news is Caitlin is now driving for M-Tech Racing in the 2018 European Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series PRO-AM class, alongside Brent Millage.

It’s the tenth year of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series in Europe and there are six rounds in all. It’s a single make racing series with all drivers competing in a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo with a V10 engine with 620hp and an XTrac sequential gearbox. It has a totally brand new bodykit and the car is a masterpiece that looks like a Lamborghini should, just amazing!

“At this point in time I do not have the budget for the full season so I am currently seeking partners/sponsors to come on-board,” said Caitlin.

The first round was held at the super quick Monza circuit in Italy. Caitlin showed great pace in qualifying, but with the session hampered by a full course yellow she only managed to put down 1.50.7 time to qualify 34th on the grid for Race One.

“The new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo is an amazing car and with the new Evo updates it has been a great experience finding the limits of the car on such a fast track like Monza,” said Caitlin.

Within the two opening laps Caitlin had gained five positions and at the halfway point she then handed the car over to her co-driver Brent Millage who unfortunately had a spin early on putting the car into the gravel ending the race for the M-Tech Racing team.

Race Two of the weekend saw Caitlin’s co-driver Brent start from the back of the field keeping the car in a steady position. With 15 minutes remaining in the race Caitlin took over and showed them who’s boss by picking up 12 positions while putting in lap times equivalent to top 15 pace.

“My weekend as a whole was positive, I showed potential and good pace in both races, but we just didn’t have the track position to go much further up the grid. I will definitely be working on qualifying with such a big field next race,” added Caitlin.

“Next round is my new home track Silverstone and I’m looking to continue showing the world what this young Aussie woman can do,” said Caitlin.

The Silverstone round of the European Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series is on May 19-20. The circuit is built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station and started hosting motorsport events in 1948. The track is 5.9 km long and is incredibly challenging, especially in the very quick section through Copse, Maggots, Becketts and Chapel. The longest straight is the Hangar Straight (770 m) where the Lamborghini Huracán will reach speeds of up to 270km/hr.
