How are the Petrol Kids?

by Petrol Mum

I was chatting to a friend the other day and we going through the usual pleasantries asking how each other’s family was. My friend asked “How are your kids?”, to which replied “They’re well”.

Then he said and “What about the other kids, in the garage”.

“Oh, you mean the Petrol Kids?”, I laughed!

I went on to tell him that the Petrol Kids were also doing well. Then I got to thinking. Many people have fur kids; pets that become more like a child than just a pet. But for some Petrol Heads, the same can be said about our two or four-wheeled friends.

Petrol Kids have their own special room in the house, that is sometimes highly decorated with car memorabilia. If we have more than a couple of kids, this room can extend to a shed. Some Petrol Heads even bring their kids into the lounge room to work on them or just to admire their form.

We bath our Petrol Kids, quite often this is done before we take them out for a special event,  and can spend vast amounts of money buying the best products to keep them looking shiny and clean.

We feed them with fuel and oil, so that they run at their best and keep their tyres nice and new, because you don’t want you kids to be seen in scruffy shoes!

Each year we commemorate their birthday by paying the registration and insurance bills. For some of us this can be a stressful time, waiting to find out if our car will receive a pink slip that will allow it on the road for another 12 months.

We take our Petrol Kids on holidays with us, sometimes planning whole adventures around a road trip that everyone can enjoy.

So if you have a Petrol Head friend, remember to them their car is more than just a form of transportation, it’s their friend or even like their child. So when you ask how they are, don’t forget to ask how the Petrol Kids are as well. Knowing most people who love their car, this will mean a lot to them.

Enjoy your weekend with the family!
